Protection for complainants
(1)
Any individual who complains in good faith to the Commissioner, an authorised officer or an authorised person of an alleged civil contravention or serious civil contravention (called in this section a complainant) —
must not be held, in any proceedings before any court or in any other respect, to have breached any code of professional etiquette or ethics, or to have departed from any accepted form of professional conduct, by reason of the complaint; and
is not to incur any civil or criminal liability in respect of the complaint or the provision of any information contained in the complaint.
(2)
Any person appearing as a witness in any proceedings under this Act must not be compelled to disclose the identity of any complainant, or any information likely to lead to the disclosure of the identity of the complainant.
