These Regulations are the Active Mobility (Definition of Mobility Vehicle) Regulations 2026 and come into operation on 27 February 2026.
Definition of “mobility vehicle”
For the purposes of paragraph (c) of the definition of “mobility vehicle” in section 2(1) of the Act, a non‑motorised wheelchair that —
is designed to carry an individual who is unable to walk or has difficulty in walking; and
is propelled by a motorised attachment that —
does not form part of the wheelchair;
has one or more wheels; and
is steered by handlebars,is a mobility vehicle.
