Regulation 15

Notification of total loss or destruction

Subregulation 1

The registered responsible person for a registered registrable PMD that has been —

(a)

destroyed or rendered beyond repair as a consequence of damage caused to the PMD by an accident or other occurrence; or

(b)

assessed in a vehicle damage assessment as a total loss,must notify the Authority of those matters, in a form approved by the Authority, and apply to cancel the registration of the PMD, not more than 14 days after their occurrence.

Subregulation 2

The registered responsible person for a registered registrable PMD who, without reasonable excuse, fails to comply with paragraph (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction —

(a)

in the case of a first offence, to a fine not exceeding $1,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 months or to both; and

(b)

in the case of a second or subsequent offence, to a fine not exceeding $2,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both.
