Clause 24

Amendment of section 28

Section 28 of the principal Act is amended by deleting subsection (1) and substituting the following subsection:“(1) Every court in dealing with a child or young person who is brought before it, either as being in need of care or protection, or as an offender or otherwise, is to do the following:

(a)

in a proper case, take steps for removing the child or young person from undesirable surroundings, and for securing that proper provision is made for the education or training of the child or young person;

(b)

facilitate the protection and rehabilitation of the child or young person, and his reintegration with his family and with society; (c)have regard to the needs of, and risks faced by, the child or young person, and facilitate the prevention of —

(i)

any recurrence of ill‑treatment of the child or young person; or

(ii)

any contravention or further contravention of any written law by the child or young person.”.
