Making of weekend detention order

The Youth Court may make a weekend detention order in respect of a child or young person who has been found guilty of an offence if, after considering a report by a probation officer about the offender and his circumstances (and, if necessary, after hearing the probation officer), the Court is satisfied that it would be in the best interests of the offender that he be dealt with by means of such an order.
