Short title and commencement

This Act may be cited as the Civil Law (Amendment) Act, 1982, and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.

Clause 2

Amendment of section 8

Section 8 of the Civil Law Act is amended —

(a)

by deleting subsection (3); and

(b)

by re-numbering subsections (4), (5) and (6) as subsections (3), (4) and (5) respectively.

Clause 3

Transitional provision

Section 2 of this Act shall apply in relation to causes of action arising before as well as in relation to causes of action arising after the commencement of this Act, but not so as to enable any proceedings to be taken which had ceased to be maintainable before the commencement of this Act.
