Short title and commencement

This Act may be cited as the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore (Amendment No. 2) Act 1998 and shall come into operation on such date as the President may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.

Amendment of Fifth Schedule

Part I of the Fifth Schedule to the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore is amended by deleting item 6.

Clause 3

Consequential amendments to Post Office Savings Bank of Singapore Act

The Post Office Savings Bank of Singapore Act (Cap. 237) is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “with the President's concurrence under Article 22A(1)(b) of the Constitution” in the following provisions: Sections 8(1) and (3), 9 (1) and 12;

(b)

by deleting the words “and the President's concurrence under Article 22A(1)(b) of the Constitution” in section 18(1) and (2)(c); and (c)by deleting section 9A.
