This Notification may be cited as the Electricity (Licensing of Electrical and Supply Installations) (Exemption) Notification.

Subregulation 1

Suggest a correction

Subject to sub-paragraph (2), the following electrical and supply installations are exempted from section 67 of the Act:

(a)

any electrical installation in a residential flat;

(b)

any electrical installation in a unit in a condominium development;

(c)

any electrical installation in a residential building or condominium development, other than such an installation in a flat or unit therein, if the approved load for the whole residential building or condominium development does not exceed 45 kilo volt-ampere;

(d)

any electrical installation in any residential premises, other than a residential building or condominium development, if the installation is used exclusively for domestic purposes; and

(e)

any electrical installation other than a supply installation in any other premises if the approved load for the premises does not exceed 45 kilo volt-ampere.

Subregulation 2

Suggest a correction

Notwithstanding sub-paragraph (1), electrical installations other than supply installations in the following premises shall not be exempted from section 67 of the Act:

(a)

any premises for making, manufacturing or storing matches, fireworks or calcium carbide;

(b)

any sawmill or premises where machinery other than light portable machinery is used to fashion timber into furniture, house fittings and other woodwork;

(c)

any premises for manufacturing, treating, smoking or preparing rubber;

(d)

any garage or premises kept or used for painting motor vehicles or any premises in which any class of petroleum is dispensed to motor vehicles unless the garage or premises is used in connection with a private dwelling house and kept for private use only;

(e)

any premises in which retreading of tyres is carried out;

(f)

any premises for storing cellulose solutions;

(g)

any premises for manufacturing or storing acetylene; and

(h)

any premises where building operations or works of engineering construction are being carried out.

For the purposes of sub-paragraph (1), “condominium development” means any development approved by the competent authority under the Planning Act (Cap. 232) as a condominium development.
