Regulation 6A
Prohibition on open burning, etc.
Subregulation 1
Subject to paragraph (2), no person shall carry out, or cause or permit, any open burning of refuse or waste in or at any place.
Subregulation 2
Paragraph (1) shall not apply —
to any campfire or barbecue;
in relation to any practice of a religious nature; or
in such other circumstances as the Director-General may permit.
Subregulation 3
In this regulation, unless the context otherwise requires, “open burning” means any fire, combustion or smouldering that occurs in the open, and includes the burning of refuse or waste in any container or receptacle which results in the emission into the air of any air impurity within the meaning of the Environmental Protection and Management Act 1999.
