Repeal and re-enactment of section 82
Section 82 of the principal Act is hereby repealed and the following substituted therefor: —“Penalty for offences for which no express penalty is provided82.—
Subject to the following provisions of this Part of this Act, any person guilty of an offence under this Act for which no express penalty is provided by this Act shall be liable —
if he is an employed person, to a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars; and
in any other case, to a fine not exceeding two thousand dollars,and, if the contravention in respect of which he was so convicted is continued after the conviction, he shall (subject to the provisions of section 83 of this Act) be guilty of a further offence and shall be liable in respect thereof to a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars for each day on which the contravention was so continued.(2) In relation to a contravention which was likely to cause the death of, or bodily injury to, any person, the person guilty of an offence shall be liable to a fine not exceeding ten thousand dollars or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or to both such fine and imprisonment and, if the contravention in respect of which he was so convicted is continued after the conviction, he shall (subject to the provisions of section 83 of this Act) be guilty of a further offence and shall be liable in respect thereof to a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars for each day on which the contravention was so continued.”.
