Amendment of section 75B

Section 75B of the principal Act is amended —

(a)

by deleting the word “The” and substituting the words “Subject to subsection (2), the”; and

(b)

by renumbering the section as subsection (1) of that section, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following subsections:“(2) The Second Schedule and any rules made under paragraph 11 of that Schedule shall apply, with such modifications as may be prescribed under subsection (3), to the provision, by a solicitor registered by the Attorney-General under section 130N, on or after the date of commencement of section 23 of the Legal Profession (Amendment) Act 2008, of services which —

(a)

are rendered in connection with his practice of Singapore law in a Joint Law Venture or its constituent foreign law practice, a Qualifying Foreign Law Practice or a licensed foreign law practice; and

(b)

are not of the quality which it is reasonable to expect of him.(3) The Minister may, after consulting the Attorney-General, make rules to prescribe the modifications to be made to the Second Schedule and any rules made under paragraph 11 of that Schedule for the purposes of subsection (2).”.
