Exemption from section 33 of Act
of Legal Profession (Pro Bono Legal Services) Rules 2013
Section 33 of the Act does not extend to any non‑practising solicitor or lawyer (NP) in respect only of his or her provision of any permitted pro bono legal services in any of the following circumstances:
the services are provided under any scheme administered by any one or more of the following:
the Society;
the State Courts referred to in section 3(1) of the State Courts Act 1970;
the Family Justice Courts referred to in section 3 of the Family Justice Act 2014;
the services are provided directly to, or for the benefit of, any charity registered or exempt from registration under the Charities Act 1994;
the services are provided directly to, or for the benefit of, any institution of a public character;
the services are provided directly to, or for the benefit of, any organisation that is a sector member as defined in section 2 of the National Council of Social Service Act 1992.
