reg 1Citation and commencement

These Regulations are the Maintenance of Religious Harmony (Compoundable Offences) (Amendment) Regulations 2026 and come into operation on 15 September 2026.

reg 2Amendment of regulation 2

In the Maintenance of Religious Harmony (Compoundable Offences) Regulations 2022 (G.N. No. S 863/2022), in regulation 2 —

(a)

in paragraph (a), replace “section 17H(1), 17J(1) or (2) or 17L(1)” with “section 16GA(1)(a), 17H(1) or 17J(1) or (2)”;

(b)

in paragraph (b), replace “section 17H(3) or 17K(3)” with “section 16GA(1)(b), (c) or (d) or 17H(3)”;

(c)

in paragraph (b), replace the full-stop at the end with a semi‑colon; and

(d)

after paragraph (b), insert — “(c)an offence under section 17L(1) of the Act (as in force immediately before 15 September 2026), except a continuing offence;

(d)

an offence under section 17K(3) of the Act (as in force immediately before 15 September 2026);

(e)

an offence under regulation 10(2)(a) or 11(8)(a) or (b) of the Maintenance of Religious Harmony (Restraining Orders) Regulations 2026 (G.N. No. S 603/2026).”.
