cl 25Amendment of section 2

In the MPA Act, in section 2 —

(a)

in the definition of “master”, after “of any vessel”, insert “(whether or not the person is on board the vessel)”;

(b)

in the definition of “pilot”, replace “it” with “the vessel, and includes a person who has the conduct of the vessel from a location other than the vessel”; and

(c)

after the definition of “regulations”, insert —“ “remote operations centre” means any location from which one or more functions of a vessel may be remotely operated, monitored, supervised or controlled, and excludes any location on board the vessel which is being remotely operated, monitored, supervised or controlled;“remote pilotage” means the conduct of a vessel from a location other than the vessel;“remote pilotage centre” means any location from which one or more pilots provide remote pilotage and excludes any location on board the vessel which is being remotely piloted;”.
