Section 89

Official and other logbooks

(1)

Except as provided by regulations made under this section, an official logbook and such other logbooks as may be prescribed in the regulations must be kept in every ship.

(2)

The Authority may, with the approval of the Minister, make regulations prescribing the particulars to be entered in the logbooks, the persons by whom such entries are to be made, signed or witnessed, and the procedure to be followed in the making of such entries and their amendment or cancellation.

(3)

Regulations may require the production or delivery of the logbooks to such persons, in such circumstances and within such times as may be specified therein.

(4)

A person who wilfully destroys, mutilates or renders illegible any entry in any logbook, shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000.
