Regulation 14A

For the purposes of complying with the minimum manning requirements in regulations 13 and 14, a qualified marine dual vocation officer may be carried on any ship in place of a qualified deck officer or a qualified marine engineer officer, provided that the qualified marine dual vocation officer is of a class equivalent to the qualified deck officer or qualified marine engineer officer being replaced.

Nothing in this regulation shall be construed as reducing the minimum manning requirements under regulations 13 and 14, or permitting the assignment of the combined duties of engine and deck watchkeeping to a single qualified marine dual vocation officer during any particular watch.
