Regulation 19

Requirements for issue of certificate

Subregulation 1

The Director may determine the requirements for the standards of competency to be attained and the conditions to be satisfied by a person before he may be issued in accordance with section A-VI/2, paragraphs 1 to 4 of the STCW Code with a Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats.

Subregulation 2

The Director may publish the requirements and conditions made under paragraph (1) in the manner he thinks fit.

Subregulation 3

A valid Certificate of Efficiency as Lifeboatman under the revoked Regulations is to be treated as equivalent to a Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats issued under these Regulations upon satisfying such requirements as the Director may specify.

Subregulation 4

A certificate issued by or under the authority of any other foreign maritime administration for proficiency in survival craft may, at the discretion of the Director be accepted as equivalent to a certificate issued under this regulation.
