Section 28

Escape from custody

(1)

Any person who, being a person held in custody pursuant to a direction under section 27(2), escapes from custody shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable upon conviction to a fine not exceeding $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years or to both.

(2)

Any police officer may, without warrant, arrest a person if the police officer has reasonable grounds to believe that the person was a person mentioned in subsection (1).

(3)

A person who has been arrested must be returned to custody in accordance with the direction.
