Amendment of section 4
of Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters (Amendment) and Other Matters Bill
In the MACMA, in section 4, after subsection (2), insert —“(3) This Act does not prevent the provision of the following international assistance to a foreign country in relation to a person in Singapore, with the person’s consent:
the recording of the person’s statement by a law enforcement agency for the purposes of any criminal matter in the foreign country;
the transmission of the person’s statement to the appropriate authority of the foreign country by the Attorney‑General or a law enforcement agency.
In subsection (3), a “law enforcement agency” means an authority or person charged with the duty of investigating offences or charging offenders under any written law.”.
