Citation and commencement

National Council of Social Service (Saving and Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2026 is Singapore Subsidiary Legislation, cited as Subsidiary Legislation S537 2026, currently marked in force and first recorded in 2026.
Citation and commencement
These Regulations are the National Council of Social Service (Saving and Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2026 and come into operation on 1 August 2026.
Definitions
In these Regulations —“amended Act” and “unamended Act” have the meanings given by section 18(20) of the National Council of Social Service (Amendment) Act 2026;“Council” and “sector member” have the meanings given by section 2 of the amended Act.
“amended Act” and “unamended Act” have the meanings given by section 18(20) of the National Council of Social Service (Amendment) Act 2026;
“Council” and “sector member” have the meanings given by section 2 of the amended Act.
Saving and transitional provisions for nomination
Any nomination of a person to be appointed as a member of the Council submitted to the Minister before 1 August 2026 by an organisation which —
immediately before 1 August 2026, held an appointment as a full Council member mentioned in section 15(1)(a) of the unamended Act; and
is deemed, on 1 August 2026, by virtue of section 18(5) of the National Council of Social Service (Amendment) Act 2026, to have been appointed as a sector member under section 15(1) of the amended Act, and whose appointment as such has not expired or been revoked by virtue of section 18(6) or (7) of the National Council of Social Service (Amendment) Act 2026,is treated on 1 August 2026 as a nomination of a person by a sector member for the purpose of section 5(3) of the National Council of Social Service Act 1992, unless the sector member withdraws the nomination before 4 p.m. on 1 August 2026.
A list of the nominees mentioned in paragraph (1) submitted to the Minister before 1 August 2026 is treated on 1 August 2026 at 4 p.m. as a list of nominees submitted by the Chairperson to the Minister for the purpose of section 5(2)(d) and (3) of the National Council of Social Service Act 1992, with the exclusion of any nominee who is withdrawn by a sector member in accordance with paragraph (1).
