Regulation 5

Application to be registered as overseas elector

Subregulation 1

An application under section 13A(1) of the Act to be registered as an overseas elector must be made in one of the following ways:

(a)

by lodging a duly completed Form R1 in person at —

(i)

the office of the Registration Officer; or

(ii)

an overseas registration centre;

(b)

by sending a duly completed Form R1 by post to the address of —

(i)

the office of the Registration Officer; or

(ii)

an overseas registration centre;

(c)

by submitting a duly completed Form R1 using the electronic system provided by the Government for this purpose.

Subregulation 2

The Registration Officer may reject the application if —

(a)

the application is incomplete or not made in accordance with these Regulations; or

(b)

the applicant fails to provide any additional information requested by the Registration Officer under section 13A(2)(e) of the Act.

Subregulation 3

Paragraph (2) does not affect any other ground on which the Registration Officer may reject the application.

Subregulation 4

The Registration Officer must inform the applicant as soon as practicable of the outcome of the application.
