Regulation 5A
Subregulation 1
Where a member of the Singapore Armed Forces who has previously been awarded the Medal performs any special act or service for which he deserves to be awarded a Medal of the same grade, but not of a higher grade, as that which he has been awarded, he may be awarded a Bar to a Medal of that grade.
Subregulation 2
A member of the Singapore Armed Forces shall not be awarded more than one Bar to a Medal of each grade.
Subregulation 3
The Bar to the Medal shall —
be cupronickel-based and shall be 33 millimetres in length and 10 millimetres in width;
have a laureated border and shall be in gold, silver or bronze, depending on the grade of the Medal; and
be attached to the ribbon by which the Medal is suspended.
