61. Desertion
Feedback & supportAny prison officer who unlawfully or in breach of his or her engagement absents himself or herself from duty under circumstances which show that that prison officer has the intention of not returning to his or her duty shall be deemed to have deserted, and shall be liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months, and all arrears of pay due to him or her shall be forfeited.
