Citation and commencement
These Rules are the Road Traffic (Carriage of Persons in Goods Vehicles) (Amendment) Rules 2026 and come into operation on 1 January 2027.

Road Traffic (Carriage of Persons in Goods Vehicles) (Amendment) Rules 2026 is Singapore Subsidiary Legislation, cited as Subsidiary Legislation S473 2026, currently marked in force and first recorded in 2026.
Citation and commencement
These Rules are the Road Traffic (Carriage of Persons in Goods Vehicles) (Amendment) Rules 2026 and come into operation on 1 January 2027.
Amendment of rule 3
In the Road Traffic (Carriage of Persons in Goods Vehicles) Rules 2010 (G.N. No. S 663/2010), in rule 3, replace “rules 5(1)” with “rules 3A(1), 5(1)”.
New rule 3A
In the Road Traffic (Carriage of Persons in Goods Vehicles) Rules 2010, after rule 3, insert —“Prohibition of persons being carried within cage on floor of goods vehicle3A.—
No person shall be carried within a cage on the floor of a goods vehicle which has an open deck for the carriage of goods.
No owner of a goods vehicle shall allow the goods vehicle to be driven in contravention of paragraph (1).
In this rule, “cage” has the meaning given by rule 50A(2) of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Construction and Use) Rules (R 9).”.
