Removal and storage charges
Subregulation 1
Any vehicle which has been removed from a road by a police officer pursuant to section 123(1)(ii) of the Act may be detained by the Deputy Commissioner of Police at the place to which the vehicle has been taken by the police officer upon its removal until there is paid to the Deputy Commissioner of Police —
the appropriate removal charge at the rates specified in the second column of the Schedule; and
the appropriate storage charge at the rates specified in the third column of that Schedule for each period of 24 hours or part thereof during which the vehicle is detained, such period to be reckoned from noon of the day after the day on which the vehicle was removed.
Subregulation 2
The appropriate removal charge specified in item 1 of the Schedule shall be paid by the owner of a vehicle that has been removed from a road pursuant to section 123 of the Act, notwithstanding that the vehicle has not also been detained under that section.
