Citation and commencement
These Rules may be cited as the Singapore Armed Forces Long Service and Good Conduct Medal Rules 2006 and shall come into operation on 1st July 2006.

Part I
Citation and commencement
These Rules may be cited as the Singapore Armed Forces Long Service and Good Conduct Medal Rules 2006 and shall come into operation on 1st July 2006.
Definitions
In these Rules –– “10 Years Medal” means the Medal referred to in rule 3(1);“20 Years Medal” means the Medal referred to in rule 8(1);“Service Chief” means the Chief of Air Force, the Chief of Army or the Chief of Navy;“serviceman” means a uniformed member of the Singapore Armed Forces.
“Service Chief” means the Chief of Air Force, the Chief of Army or the Chief of Navy;
Designation of 10 Years Medal
A medal to be designated and styled the Singapore Armed Forces Long Service and Good Conduct (10 Years) Medal may be awarded to any serviceman in regular service who has completed 10 years of continuous service in recognition of his long service and good conduct in the Singapore Armed Forces.
The period of full-time national service completed by the serviceman shall be included in the computation of continuous service.
A Clasp may be awarded to a recipient of the 10 Years Medal on his completing a further 5 years of continuous service in the Singapore Armed Forces. For each Clasp so awarded, a small gold star shall be added to the ribbon when worn alone.
Description of 10 Years Medal
The 10 Years Medal shall be hexagonal in shape and gold in colour. On the obverse side, it shall have the Singapore Armed Forces Crest. The reverse side shall bear the inscription “LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL”.
The Clasp for the 10 Years Medal shall be a bar which is gold in colour and 35 millimetres in length and 10 millimetres in width, and engraved with the words “FIFTEEN YEARS”.
Design of 10 Years Medal
The 10 Years Medal shall be of the design set out in the First Schedule.
Name to be inscribed on 10 Years Medal
The name of the person to whom the 10 Years Medal is awarded shall be inscribed on the back of the Medal.
Wearing of 10 Years Medal
The 10 Years Medal shall be worn on the left side of the outer garment suspended by a brown ribbon 35 millimetres in width and 50 millimetres in length. The ribbon shall have in the centre 3 white stripes 3 millimetres in width each.
Designation of 20 Years Medal
A medal to be designated and styled the Singapore Armed Forces Long Service and Good Conduct (20 Years) Medal may be awarded to any serviceman in regular service, operationally ready national service or volunteer service who has completed 20 years of continuous service in recognition of his long service and good conduct in the Singapore Armed Forces.
The period of full-time national service completed by the serviceman shall be included in the computation of continuous service.
A Clasp may be awarded to a recipient of the 20 Years Medal on his completing a further 10 years of continuous service in the Singapore Armed Forces. For each Clasp so awarded, a small gold star shall be added to the ribbon when worn alone.

The 20 Years Medal shall be multi-lobed disc in shape and gold in colour. On the obverse side, it shall have the Singapore Armed Forces Crest. The reverse side shall bear the inscription “LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL”.
The Clasp for the 20 Years Medal shall be a bar which is gold in colour and 35 millimetres in length and 10 millimetres in width, and engraved with the words “THIRTY YEARS”.
Design of 20 Years Medal
The 20 Years Medal shall be of the design set out in the Second Schedule.
Name to be inscribed on 20 Years Medal
The name of the person to whom the 20 Years Medal is awarded shall be inscribed on the back of the Medal.
Wearing of 20 Years Medal
The 20 Years Medal shall be worn on the left side of the outer garment suspended by a ribbon 35 millimetres in width and 50 millimetres in length. The ribbon shall consist of vertical maroon and white stripes. The maroon stripes at the extreme right and left of the ribbon shall be 8.75 millimetres in width. Immediately beside these maroon stripes, there shall be 4 white and 4 maroon stripes each measuring 0.5 millimetres in width, and bordering these, there shall be 2 white stripes each measuring 2.5 millimetres in width. At the centre of the ribbon there shall be 5 maroon and 4 white stripes each measuring 0.5 millimetres in width.
Medals to be awarded by Director of Manpower
The 10 Years Medal and the 20 Years Medal shall be awarded by the Director of Manpower.
Publication of awards, etc.
The names of the persons to whom the 10 Years Medal or 20 Years Medal is awarded shall be published in Formation or Unit orders and a register of such names shall be kept in the Ministry of Defence.
Forfeiture of Medals
The Chief of Defence Force or a Service Chief may forfeit any 10 Years Medal, 20 Years Medal or Clasp awarded to any person under these Rules if he ––
is convicted by a court in Singapore of any criminal offence;
is dismissed or removed from the Singapore Armed Forces on disciplinary grounds; or
is guilty of misconduct or disloyalty to Singapore.
Any 10 Years Medal, 20 Years Medal or Clasp so forfeited may be restored by the Chief of Defence Force or a Service Chief.
Revocation
The Singapore Armed Forces Long Service and Good Conduct Medal Rules 1973 (G.N. No. S 57/73) are revoked.
Any person who has been awarded a Singapore Armed Forces Long Service and Good Conduct Medal under the revoked Rules shall be deemed to have been awarded a Medal under these Rules.
