This Notification may be cited as the Banking (Exemption from Section 4A (1) and (2)) (No. 2) Notification 2005 and shall come into operation on 5th November 2005.

Subregulation 1

The Authority hereby exempts the following persons from section 4A(1) of the Act, subject to such conditions as may be specified in letters issued by the Authority from time to time to such persons:

(a)

Societe Generale Paris (an institution licensed and accredited under the laws of France) in respect of any deposit accepted in Singapore on behalf of Societe Generale Paris by Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch from any person in Singapore, in connection with the provision of private banking services in Singapore by Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch on behalf of Societe Generale Paris;

(b)

Societe Generale Hong Kong (an institution licensed and accredited under the laws of Hong Kong SAR) in respect of any deposit accepted in Singapore on behalf of Societe Generale Hong Kong by Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch from any person in Singapore, in connection with the provision of private banking services in Singapore by Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch on behalf of Societe Generale Hong Kong;

(c)

Societe Generale Bank & Trust Luxembourg (an institution licensed and accredited under the laws of Luxembourg) in respect of any deposit accepted in Singapore on behalf of Societe Generale Bank & Trust Luxembourg by Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch from any person in Singapore, in connection with the provision of private banking services in Singapore by Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch on behalf of Societe Generale Bank & Trust Luxembourg;

(d)

SG Private Banking (Suisse) SA (an institution licensed and accredited under the laws of Switzerland) in respect of any deposit accepted in Singapore on behalf of SG Private Banking (Suisse) SA by Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch from any person in Singapore, in connection with the provision of private banking services in Singapore by Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch on behalf of SG Private Banking (Suisse) SA;

(e)

SG Hambros Bank & Trust Ltd (an institution licensed and accredited under the laws of the United Kingdom) in respect of any deposit accepted in Singapore on behalf of SG Hambros Bank & Trust Ltd by Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch from any person in Singapore, in connection with the provision of private banking services in Singapore by Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch on behalf of SG Hambros Bank & Trust Ltd.

Subregulation 2

Suggest a correction

The Authority hereby exempts the following persons from section 4A(2) of the Act, subject to such conditions as may be specified in letters issued by the Authority from time to time to such persons:

(a)

Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch in respect of any offer or invitation to make any deposit, or to enter or offer to enter into any agreement to make any deposit, with Societe Generale Paris, made in connection with the provision of private banking services in Singapore by Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch on behalf of Societe Generale Paris;

(b)

Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch in respect of any offer or invitation to make any deposit, or to enter or offer to enter into any agreement to make any deposit, with Societe Generale Hong Kong, made in connection with the provision of private banking services in Singapore by Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch on behalf of Societe Generale Hong Kong;

(c)

Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch in respect of any offer or invitation to make any deposit, or to enter or offer to enter into any agreement to make any deposit, with Societe Generale Bank & Trust Luxembourg, made in connection with the provision of private banking services in Singapore by Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch on behalf of Societe Generale Bank & Trust Luxembourg;

(d)

Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch in respect of any offer or invitation to make any deposit, or to enter or offer to enter into any agreement to make any deposit, with SG Private Banking (Suisse) SA, made in connection with the provision of private banking services in Singapore by Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch on behalf of SG Private Banking (Suisse) SA;

(e)

Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch in respect of any offer or invitation to make any deposit, or to enter or offer to enter into any agreement to make any deposit, with SG Hambros Bank & Trust Ltd, made in connection with the provision of private banking services in Singapore by Societe Generale Bank & Trust Singapore Branch on behalf of SG Hambros Bank & Trust Ltd.
