Regulation 6

The loss or destruction of the Medal shall, if replacement is desired, be reported in writing by the recipient to the Commandant, who may, if he is satisfied that the circumstances in which the loss or destruction occurred are such as to justify replacement, forward a report and recommendation for replacement to the Minister. No such report shall be forwarded until 6 months after the date of the alleged loss or destruction. The Medal shall be replaced on payment being made by the officer to cover the cost thereof.
