Regulation 4

Medical examination

Subregulation 1

Every licensed vector control technician and certified vector control worker shall —

(a)

undergo the medical examinations specified in Part II of the Workplace Safety and Health (Medical Examinations) Regulations 2011 (G.N. No. S 516/2011) (read with the Schedule thereto) in relation to persons employed in occupations involving the use or handling of or exposure to the liquid, fumes or vapour of organophosphates; and

(b)

after undergoing such medical examinations, be certified by the designated workplace doctor as defined by the Workplace Safety and Health (Medical Examinations) Regulations 2011 —

(i)

in relation to a medical examination referred to in regulation 4 of the Workplace Safety and Health (Medical Examinations) Regulations 2011, that he is fit to work in such occupation;

(ii)

in relation to a medical examination referred to in regulation 5 of the Workplace Safety and Health (Medical Examinations) Regulations 2011, that he is fit to continue to work in such occupation; and

(iii)

in relation to a medical examination referred to in regulation 6 of the Workplace Safety and Health (Medical Examinations) Regulations 2011, as to such results of that medical examination as may be required by the Commissioner for Workplace Safety and Health (appointed under section 7 of the Workplace Safety and Health Act (Cap. 354A)).

Subregulation 2

Paragraph (1) applies without prejudice to any obligations imposed by regulations 4, 5 and 6 of the Workplace Safety and Health (Medical Examinations) Regulations 2011 on a responsible person as defined under those Regulations.

The Director-General may refuse to grant a renewal of a vector control technician’s licence, a provisional vector control technician’s licence, a vector control worker’s certificate or a provisional vector control worker’s certificate under section 30 of the Act if the person seeking the renewal has failed to comply with paragraph (1) in relation to the licence or certificate sought to be renewed.
