Pharmacists Registration (Prescribed Qualifications for Conditional Registration) Regulations 2020

These Regulations are the Pharmacists Registration (Prescribed Qualifications for Conditional Registration) Regulations 2020 and come into operation on 1 August 2020.

For the purposes of section 17(1) of the Act, a prescribed qualification is any qualification set out in the third column of the Schedule conferred by a foreign institution set out in the second column of that Schedule.

The Pharmacists Registration (Prescribed Qualifications for Conditional Registration) Regulations 2011 (G.N. No. S 503/2011) (called in these Regulations the revoked Regulations) are revoked.

Despite regulations 2 and 3, the revoked Regulations continue to apply to —

any person who, before 1 August 2020, has enrolled in a course of study conducted by any of the tertiary institutions specified in the second column of the Schedule to the revoked Regulations that leads to the conferment, on or after 1 August 2020, of a qualification specified in the third column of that Schedule that corresponds to that tertiary institution; and

any person who, before 1 August 2020 —

has received a letter of acceptance that is dated before 1 August 2020 from any of the tertiary institutions specified in the second column of the Schedule to the revoked Regulations in relation to a course of study that leads to the conferment of a qualification specified in the third column of that Schedule that corresponds to that tertiary institution; and

has deferred the commencement of that course of study to a date on or after 1 August 2020 due to that person’s liability to render full‑time service as a national serviceman,as if these Regulations had not been made.

To avoid doubt, nothing in regulations 2 and 3 affects any person who, before 1 August 2020, has been conferred a prescribed qualification under the revoked Regulations.

In paragraph (1)(b) —

“full‑time service” and “national serviceman” have the meanings given by section 2 of the Enlistment Act (Cap. 93);

“letter of acceptance” means a letter from a tertiary institution accepting a person’s application and offering that person admission as a candidate for a course of study conducted at the tertiary institution leading to a qualification conferred by that tertiary institution.
