Citation and commencement

These Rules may be cited as the Pingat Bakti Setia (Pertahanan Awam) (The Long Service Medal — Civil Defence) Rules 2007 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 8th August 2007.

Regulation 2

Designation of Medal

The Medal shall be designated and styled the Pingat Bakti Setia (Pertahanan Awam) or the Long Service Medal (Civil Defence).

The Medal may be awarded to any person who has completed at least 25 years of continuous and unbroken service in the Singapore Civil Defence Force as —

(a)

a uniformed Singapore Civil Defence Force operationally ready national serviceman; or

(b)

an auxiliary member of the Singapore Civil Defence Force.

Subregulation 2

The period of full-time national service completed by the serviceman shall be included in the computation of service for the purposes of paragraph (1).

Description of Medal

The Medal shall consist of a 5-pointed star with angled rays shape in 925 sterling silver and shall measure 38 mm in width and 3 mm in thickness.

Subregulation 2

The obverse side of the Medal shall bear the Singapore Coat-of-Arms encircled by the inscription “CIVIL DEFENCE FORCE” above the Coat-of-Arms and “SINGAPORE” beneath the Coat-of-Arms.

The reverse side of the Medal shall bear the Singapore Civil Defence Force Crest encircled by the inscription “PINGAT BAKTI SETIA (PERTAHANAN AWAM)”.

The Medal shall be of the design set out in the Schedule.

Wearing of Medal

The Medal shall be worn by the recipient on the left side of the outer garment suspended by a ribbon 33 mm in width and 50 mm in length.

The ribbon shall have vertical stripes in red and grey.

The centre of the ribbon shall have a red strip of 3 mm in width, flanked on each side by a grey stripe of 4 mm in width, followed by another red stripe of 5 mm in width, another grey stripe of 1 mm in width and another red stripe of 5 mm in width.

Regulation 6

Name to be inscribed on Medal

The name of the person to whom the Medal is awarded shall be inscribed on the back of the Medal.

Regulation 7

Publication of award

The names of the persons to whom the Medal is awarded shall be published in the Gazette.

Regulation 8

Forfeiture of Medal

Subregulation 1

The President may forfeit any Medal awarded to any person under these Rules if the person —

(a)

is convicted of any criminal offence;

(b)

is dismissed or removed from the Singapore Civil Defence Force on disciplinary grounds; or

(c)

is guilty of misconduct or disloyalty to Singapore.

Any Medal forfeited may be restored by the President.

A notice of the forfeiture or restoration of any Medal shall be published in the Gazette.
