Citation and commencement
This Order may be cited as the Private Education (Exemption) Order 2013 and shall come into operation on 12th March 2013.

Citation and commencement
This Order may be cited as the Private Education (Exemption) Order 2013 and shall come into operation on 12th March 2013.
Definition
In this Order, unless the context otherwise requires, “core course”, in relation to a registered private education institution, means a course that the Minister determines to be a course that is within an area of specialisation of the registered private education institution.
Exemption from requirement to be company or registered society
Every private education institution specified in Part I of the Schedule shall be exempted from section 10(1)(a) of the Act pertaining to the registration or renewal of registration of the institution.

The exemption of a private education institution under sub‑paragraph (1) shall apply for so long as the institution offers only a core course and no other.
Exemption from requirements for permission to provide courses
Every registered private education institution specified in Parts I, III, IV, V and VI of the Schedule shall be exempted from section 16(1) of the Act in respect of any core course conducted by that institution.
Every registered private education institution specified in Part VII of the Schedule shall be exempted from section 16(1) of the Act in respect of any course that —
leads to a certificate, degree, diploma or other qualification, that is awarded or ratified, by the University of the Arts Singapore Ltd.; or
is supported by a grant-in-aid or subvention from the Government.
Exemption from requirements on deployment of teachers
Every registered private education institution specified in Parts I, III, IV, V and VI of the Schedule shall be exempted from section 17(1)(b) and (c) of the Act in respect of any core course conducted by that institution.
Every registered private education institution specified in Part VII of the Schedule shall be exempted from section 17(1)(b) and (c) of the Act in respect of any course that —
leads to a certificate, degree, diploma or other qualification, that is awarded or ratified, by the University of the Arts Singapore Ltd.; or
is supported by a grant-in-aid or subvention from the Government.

Revocation
The Private Education (Exemption) Order 2011 (G.N. No. S 416/2011) is revoked.
