Counterchecking procedures
Subregulation 1
A licensee must establish and implement processes to prevent the use of the wrong specimens in any laboratory or clinical procedure.
Subregulation 2
Without limiting paragraph (1), a licensee must ensure the following:
(a)
the implementation of a protocol where 2 personnel check that the specimen relating to the correct patient has been collected for use in the laboratory or clinical procedure;
(b)
the assignment of personnel who has the appropriate training or competencies for the protocol mentioned in sub‑paragraph (a);
(c)
documentation of the personnel who performed each check mentioned in sub‑paragraph (a).
