Citation and commencement
These By‑laws are the Town Council of Sembawang (Penalties for Late Payment of Conservancy and Service Charges) By‑laws 2016 and come into operation on 1 April 2016.
Definitions
In these By‑laws, unless the context otherwise requires —“charge” means any conservancy and service charge (or any part of it);“Town Council” means the Town Council for the Town of Sembawang.
“charge” means any conservancy and service charge (or any part of it);
Calculation of penalties for charges in arrears
Where —
a charge payable by any tenant or owner to the Town Council is in arrears for one month or more; and
the total accumulated amount of charges in arrears is not less than the amount of monthly charges payable by the tenant or owner,the tenant or owner is liable to pay for every month after the first month in which there are arrears a penalty at the appropriate rate set out in the Schedule.
Application of payment
The Town Council may, in its discretion, apply any moneys paid by a tenant or owner under these By‑laws —
first towards the payment of any penalty payable under these By‑laws; and (b)thereafter (if any balance remains) towards the payment of any charge that is in arrears.
Remission
The Town Council may, in its discretion, remit wholly or in part any penalty payable under these By‑laws.
Revocation
The Town Council of Sembawang‑Nee Soon (Penalties for Late Payment of Conservancy and Service Charges) By‑laws 2011 (G.N. No. S 704/2011) are revoked.
