Short title and commencement
This Act may be cited as the Weights and Measures (Amendment) Act, 1979, and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.

Short title and commencement
This Act may be cited as the Weights and Measures (Amendment) Act, 1979, and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.
Amendment of section 16
Section 16 of the Weights and Measures Act, 1975, is amended by deleting the full-stop at the end of subsection (1) and substituting the word “; or”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following: —“(i)are not to be sold or pre-packed for sale by any weight or measure which is not a unit of the metric system; or
are not to be sold, advertised or displayed for sale at a price other than a price expressed by reference to a prescribed metric quantity.”.
