19. Caveat against issue of marriage licence

(1)
Any person may, on payment of the prescribed fee, enter a caveat with the Registrar against the issue of a marriage licence for the marriage of any person named in the caveat and notice of whose intended marriage has been given to the Registrar.

“Registrar” means the Registrar of Marriages appointed under section 26 and includes an Assistant Registrar of Marriages;
(2)
A caveat under subsection (1) must —
(a)
state the grounds of objection on which the caveat is founded;
(b)
state any prescribed information; and
(c)
be signed by the person entering the caveat.
