Section 42

Interpretation

In this Part and in the remaining Parts of this Act, unless the context otherwise requires —“child” means a person who, in the absence of legal proof to the contrary, is, in the opinion of the court having cognisance of any case in relation to such person, under the age of 14 years;“young person” means a person who, in the absence of legal proof to the contrary, is, in the opinion of the court having cognisance of any case in relation to such person, 14 years of age or upwards and under the age of 16 years.
