Employing young person to conduct Singapore Sweep

Subregulation 1

A relevant agent (but not an employee of a gambling service agent) is exempt from section 35(1) of the Act with respect to the relevant agent employing in Singapore a young person to conduct the Singapore Sweep, in accordance with arrangements made by the relevant agent on behalf of the licensee, in or from any part of a convenience store, magazine or newspaper kiosk or shoplet, petrol service station, laundry shop, dry cleaner’s shop, hairdresser, or any other premises used for a trade or business of selling goods or services (whether or not of a similar kind) that —

(a)

is occupied by the relevant agent for carrying on a business; and

(b)

is not used to conduct —

(i)

any betting operation or gaming;

(ii)

the Singapore Sweep by way of printing and then distributing any Singapore Sweep ticket by consigning them for sale; and

(iii)

any other lottery.

Subregulation 2

In sub‑paragraph (1), “employ”, in relation to a young person, includes —

(a)

employing or engaging the young person whether or not under a contract of employment; and

(b)

causing or permitting the young person to be employed or engaged.
