Death of detained person

A medical officer for a place of detention must, upon the death of a detained person in the place of detention (called in this rule the deceased), enter in the medical officer’s records —

(a)

the time of the death;

(b)

the cause of the death; (c)in the case where the cause of the death is a sickness, a disease or an injury —

(i)

the nature of the sickness, disease or injury; (ii)the time when the sickness, disease or injury was first observed;

(iii)

the time when the sickness, disease or injury was first reported to the medical officer; and

(iv)

the time when the sickness, disease or injury assumed a dangerous character; (d)an account of the deceased’s appearance after death; (e)the results of any post-mortem examination carried out on the deceased; and (f)any other remarks that, in the medical officer’s opinion, are necessary.
