Section 31A
Counting at counting places
(1)
The Returning Officer may direct —
that the votes cast at any polling station or stations in Singapore be counted at such counting place (which may or may not be a polling station) as the Returning Officer may specify; and
where more than one counting place is specified under paragraph (a), that the total number of votes given to each candidate at the poll be ascertained at a principal counting place (which may or may not be a counting place) as the Returning Officer may specify.

The Returning Officer must cause notice of every direction issued under subsection (1) to be published in the Gazette at least 2 clear days before polling day.
