Regulation 1

Citation and commencement

This Order is the Public Transport Council (Exempt Ride‑hail Service Providers) (Amendment) Order 2026 and, except for paragraph 4, comes into operation on 4 May 2026.

Paragraph 4(1) is deemed to have come into operation on 31 December 2021.

(3)

Paragraph 4(2) is deemed to have come into operation on 2 June 2025.

Subregulation 1

This Order is the Public Transport Council (Exempt Ride‑hail Service Providers) (Amendment) Order 2026 and, except for paragraph 4, comes into operation on 4 May 2026.

Subregulation 2

Paragraph 4(1) is deemed to have come into operation on 31 December 2021.

Subregulation 3

Paragraph 4(2) is deemed to have come into operation on 2 June 2025.

Regulation 2

Amendment of paragraph 2

In the Public Transport Council (Exempt Ride‑hail Service Providers) Order 2020 (G.N. No. S 915/2020) (called in this Order the principal Order), in paragraph 2, replace the definition of “Singapore‑Johore taxi service” with —“ “Singapore-Malaysia taxi service” means a ride‑hail service provided by a ride-hail industry participant —

(a)

whereby —

(i)

the hiring is for a journey by taxi owned by the ride‑hail industry participant between Singapore and Malaysia;

(ii)

the provision of the ride-hail service is for a fixed sum agreed between the hirer and the ride‑hail industry participant; and

(iii)

no other fares are payable by the passengers to the taxi driver or the ride‑hail industry participant; and

(b)

which the ride-hail industry participant is licensed to provide;”.

Regulation 3

Amendment of paragraph 3

In the principal Order, in paragraph 3(1)(a), replace “Singapore‑Johore taxi service” with “Singapore‑Malaysia taxi service”.

Regulation 4

Miscellaneous amendments

Subregulation 1

In the principal Order —

(a)

in paragraph 2, in the definition of “taxi driver”, replace “Part V of the Road Traffic Act (Cap. 276)” with “Part 5 of the Road Traffic Act 1961”; (b)in paragraph 3(1), replace “sections 23(2A)(a) and (2B) and 23E(1)” with “sections 41(4)(a) and (5) and 46(1)”; and

(c)

in paragraph 4, replace “sections 23(2A) and (2B) and 23E(1)” with “sections 41(4) and (5) and 46(1)”.

Subregulation 2

In the principal Order, in paragraph 4, delete “(G.N. No. S 422/2020)”.
