Control of leaking packages
Subregulation 1
If there is any indication or reason to suspect that a package may have leaked or is leaking, the licensed carrier transporting the package shall restrict access to the package and a survey shall be made as soon as possible, by qualified personnel to assess the extent of contamination and the resultant radiation level of the package, the conveyance, the adjacent loading and unloading areas, and, if necessary, any individual and all other material which has been carried in the conveyance.
Subregulation 2
Packages leaking radioactive contents in excess of allowable limits for normal conditions of transport may be removed under supervision but shall not be forwarded until repaired or reconditioned and decontaminated, so as to meet the requirements of these Regulations.
