Regulation 4

of Singapore Police Service Good Service Medal Rules 1994

Regulation 4

Subregulation 1

An eligible person shall qualify for the award of the Medal if he has rendered —

(a)

regular or voluntary service on a part-time basis or a combination of both for a continuous period of at least 5 years in the Singapore Police Service; or

(b)

full-time national service under the Enlistment Act (Cap. 93) for a continuous period of at least 2 years followed immediately by —

(i)

regular service for a continuous period of at least 3 years;

(ii)

voluntary service on a part-time basis for a continuous period of at least 3 years;

(iii)

reserve service for a continuous period of at least 3 years; or

(iv)

any combination of the forms of service referred to in sub-paragraphs (i), (ii) and (iii) for a continuous period of at least 3 years,in the Singapore Police Service.

Subregulation 2

In computing the period of service under paragraph (1), any form of service in the Singapore Armed Forces or Singapore Civil Defence Force preceding service in the Singapore Police Force shall be treated as if it is such service in the Singapore Police Force.

Subregulation 3

A period shall be treated as continuous for the purposes of paragraph (1) notwithstanding —

(a)

a break of service for one day for the purpose of awarding a pension or gratuity under the Pensions Regulations set out in the First Schedule to the Pensions Act (Cap. 225);

(b)

any period of leave without pay, except that such period of leave shall not be counted towards the minimum requirement;

(c)

any period of disruption from full-time service, except that such period of disruption shall not be counted towards the minimum requirement;

(d)

any transfer of service from one of the forces, services, bodies and organisations to another either within or between the Singapore Police Service, the Singapore Civil Defence Force and the Singapore Armed Forces where such transfer is without a break of service.
