15A. Examinations for dentists

An examination referred to in section 14A(2) of the Act shall be in such subjects as the Council may from time to time determine, and may include —

oral and written examinations in the basic principles of surgery, medicine and pathology, as applied to dentistry;

oral and written examinations in dentistry; and

practical examinations in clinical dentistry.

For the purposes of conducting the examination referred to in paragraph (1), the Council may —

appoint a Committee of Examiners; or

make arrangements with the Faculty of Dentistry of the National University of Singapore.

The examination shall consist of 3 parts, being Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3.

The date and place of each part of the examination shall be appointed by the Council.

An applicant who is required by the Council to undergo the examination —

must sit for and pass all the 3 parts of the examination in sequence in order to pass the examination;

shall be entitled to sit for Part 2 of the examination only after having sat for and passed Part 1 of the examination;

shall be entitled to sit for Part 3 of the examination only after having sat for and passed both Part 1 and Part 2 of the examination; and

shall be entitled to only 2 attempts at each part of the examination and the second attempt must be taken within a period of 12 months after the date on which the first attempt was taken.
