Family Justice (Criminal Proceedings in Youth Courts) Rules 2024

These Rules are the Family Justice (Criminal Proceedings in Youth Courts) Rules 2024 and come into operation on 15 October 2024.

In these Rules, “Code” means the Criminal Procedure Code 2010.

The following modifications (where applicable) are prescribed for the purposes of section 35(2)(b) of the Act:

except as provided for in paragraph (c), any reference in the Code to a District Court, a State Court or a Magistrate’s Court is a reference to a Youth Court;

any reference in the Code to a District Judge or a Magistrate is a reference to a District Judge or Magistrate who is designated under section 14 of the Act as a judge of a Youth Court;

any reference in the Code to the Registrar of the State Courts is a reference to the Registrar.

Despite Part 1, Rule 2(7)(a) of the Family Justice (General) Rules 2024 (G.N. No. S 720/2024), Part 26, Rules 1, 2, 3(1) to (7), 5 and 6 of those Rules apply in relation to any criminal proceedings in a Youth Court.
