37. Prevention of fire

All reasonably practicable steps shall be taken in a workplace to keep sources of heat or ignition separate from —
flammable materials in the workplace; or
any process carried on at the workplace that gives rise to any flammable gas or vapour.
There shall be provided and maintained in a workplace means of extinguishing fire which shall be —
readily accessible;
adequate and suitable having regard to the circumstances of each case; and
tested by a competent person at such regular intervals as the Commissioner may determine.
It shall be the duty of the occupier of a workplace to comply with paragraphs (1) and (2).
Subregulation 1
