Power of Director-General to issue directives
Subregulation 1
The Director-General may, at any time, issue to any licensee such written directives as he thinks necessary for —
the biosecurity and proper management and operation of the licensee’s farm;
the containment or prevention of the spread of any disease that may infect the animals or birds in the licensee’s farm; or
ascertaining whether the animals or birds on the licensee’s farm are infected with or have been exposed to any disease.
Subregulation 2
Where a licence is suspended or revoked under section 62 of the Act, the Director-General may issue to the person whose licence was suspended or revoked one or more written directives that the Director-General thinks necessary —
for the proper care and handling (whether by that person, or by any other person under arrangements to be made by the firstmentioned person) of the animals or birds in the farm to which the licence was related; or
if the licence was in respect of a farm for the keeping, rearing or breeding of animals or birds for commercial purposes —
for the sale or export from that farm of any relevant animal or bird; or
for the rehoming of any relevant animal or bird,within the period specified in the written directive.
Subregulation 3
In paragraph (2)(b), “relevant animal or bird” means —
in the case of the suspension or revocation of a licence in respect of a farm for the keeping of animals or birds for commercial purposes — any animal or bird kept at that farm but not sold or exported by the day immediately before the date of such suspension or revocation, as the case may be; or
in the case of the suspension or revocation of a licence in respect of a farm for the rearing or breeding of animals or birds for commercial purposes — any animal or bird reared or bred (as the case may be) at that farm before the date of such suspension or revocation, as the case may be.
