Licence required for importing essential construction materials
of Building and Construction Authority Act 1999
(1)
Subject to the provisions of this Part, a person must not carry on any business of importing any essential construction material unless the person is authorised to do so under a valid licence.
(2)
Any person who contravenes subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $500,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years or to both and, in the case of a continuing offence, to a fine not exceeding $10,000 for every day or part of a day during which the offence continues after conviction.
(3)
This section does not prevent a corporation or limited liability partnership that ceases to have in force a licence from carrying on any activity necessary to the winding up of the corporation or limited liability partnership.[31B
