Establishment of scholarships, bursaries and awards

There are hereby established the following scholarships, bursaries and awards, a number of each of which shall be awarded annually, in accordance with these Regulations, out of such part of the income of the Endowment Fund as the Minister may designate for the purpose:

(a)

the Edusave Scholarship for Independent Schools;

(b)

(f)

the Edusave Scholarships for Primary Schools;

(g)

the Edusave Merit Bursaries and Community Education Award Scheme;

(h)

the Edusave Good Progress Awards; (i)the Edusave Awards for Achievement, Good Leadership and Service; (j)the Achievement Awards for Special Education Schools; (k)the Edusave Character Award;

(l)

the Edusave Skills Award.

Subregulation 1A

To avoid doubt, except as otherwise provided in these Regulations, a pupil who satisfies the requirements for a scholarship, bursary or award under these Regulations is eligible for that scholarship, bursary or award despite —

(a)

the pupil holding any other scholarship, bursary or award from the Ministry or any public or private body; or

(b)

the pupil receiving any study grant or financial assistance from the Ministry or any public or private body.

Subregulation 1B

A pupil is eligible to hold only one academic award in an academic year.

Subject to paragraphs (1D) and (1E), a pupil’s eligibility for a scholarship, bursary or award under these Regulations is determined based on the information received by the Ministry on or before the cut‑off date for that scholarship, bursary or award.

Despite paragraph (1C), a scholarship, bursary or award under these Regulations may be awarded to a pupil based on information received by the Ministry after the cut‑off date for that scholarship, bursary or award, if the information was not received by the Ministry on or before the cut‑off date due to an error or omission by the educational institution in which the pupil is enrolled or the Ministry.

Despite anything in these Regulations, a scholarship, bursary or award under these Regulations awarded to a pupil may be terminated or revoked if the pupil has (before, on or after the cut‑off date) behaved in a manner that makes it undesirable for the pupil to hold the scholarship, bursary or award, as the case may be.

The holder of an Edusave Scholarship for Independent Schools shall be known as an “Edusave (Independent Schools) Scholar”.

Subregulation 4

The holder of an Edusave Scholarship for Secondary Schools shall be known as an “Edusave (Secondary Schools) Scholar”.

Subregulation 5

The holder of an Edusave Scholarship for Primary Schools shall be known as an “Edusave (Primary Schools) Scholar”.
