Section 75B
Redress for inadequate professional services
(1)
Subject to subsection (2), the Second Schedule has effect with respect to the provision by solicitors of services on or after 1 September 1998 which are not of the quality which it is reasonable to expect of them.
(2)
The Second Schedule and any rules made under paragraph 11 of that Schedule apply, with such modifications as may be prescribed under subsection (3), to the provision, by a solicitor registered under section 36E, of services which —
are rendered in connection with his or her practice of Singapore law in a Joint Law Venture or its constituent foreign law practice, a Qualifying Foreign Law Practice or a licensed foreign law practice; and
are not of the quality which it is reasonable to expect of the solicitor.
(2A)
The Second Schedule and any rules made under paragraph 11 of that Schedule apply, with such modifications as may be prescribed under subsection (3), to the provision, by a foreign lawyer registered under section 36B, of services which —
are rendered in connection with his or her practice of Singapore law; and
are not of the quality which it is reasonable to expect of the foreign lawyer.
(3)
The Minister may make rules to prescribe the modifications to be made to the Second Schedule and any rules made under paragraph 11 of that Schedule for the purposes of subsections (2) and (2A).
